Hulk Hogan Settles Sex Tape Lawsuit Against Pal
Ray Tamarra/Getty Images(NEW YORK) — Hulk Hogan has settled his lawsuit against friend and radio personality Bubba the Love Sponge — whose real name is Todd Clem — over a 2006 tape featuring the pro wrestler having sex with Clem’s ex-wife, Heather Cole, reports Tampa Bay Online.
The wrestler’s public relations team at E.J. Media Group said in a statement that the terms of the settlement will remain confidential.
In the suit, Hogan, whose real name is Terry Bollea, claimed that he was unaware he was being recorded. It also said, “Plaintiff has spent considerable time and effort developing his career as a professional champion wrestler and developing his brand.” The lawsuit noted that Hogan is a “12-time world wrestling champion.”
After the settlement was reached, Clem issued a public apology on his radio show on Monday. In the apology, Clem said, “I am now convinced that Hulk Hogan was unaware of the presence of the recording device in my bedroom.” He added, “I am certain that Hulk had no role in the release of the video.” He also apologized to Hogan’s children for statements he had made about them.
Hogan still has a $100 million lawsuit against the gossip website Gawker.com, and its owner Gawker Media, which posted the video and has refused to remove it. That suit was filed in Tampa.
