Prince William, Kate Middleton Place Ad for Household Help
Chris Jackson – WPA Pool/Getty Images(LONDON) — The pitter-patter of a baby’s feet might not be the only addition to the Prince William and Kate Middleton household in the New Year. The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge, as the royal couple is formally known, have placed an advertisement for a royal servant to help with their growing family, the U.K.’s Sunday Express reported.
William, 30, and Kate, 31, are expected to welcome their first child in July, the palace has confirmed, and it appears they are looking for a housekeeper to handle the everyday tasks of maintaining a home while they tend to the baby.
“To provide a high standard of housekeeping for TRH [their royal highnesses] The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge,” reads the job description, placed internally at Buckingham Palace, according to the Express. “Main duties included: ensuring all areas of the residence are cleaned and maintained to a high standard at all times. Caring for and maintaining TRH – personal clothing, cleaning silver- ware and glassware and in-house laundry.”
The royals conducted a similar search for a Kensington Palace aide shortly after their fairy-tale wedding at London’s Westminster Abbey in April 2011 but changed their minds because they spent most of their time at their cottage in Anglesey, Wales, where William works an RAF search-and-rescue pilot.
It was there, in Wales, that Middleton was spotted grocery shopping for the couple herself, maintaining the couple’s vow that they would live their lives as normally as possible under the royal glare.
The new advertisement, circulated among palace staff, has attracted about 15 inquiries so far, the Express reported. It calls for a valid U.K. driver’s license but does not require experience, according to the paper.
“Attention to detail, together with a flexible and pro-active approach is essential,” the job description reads.
Middleton, who is 13 to 14 weeks pregnant, has been recovering at home after spending four nights at a hospital last month because of severe morning sickness called hyperemesis gravidarum. Her most recent appearance was for the unveiling of her official portrait Friday, at which royal watchers spotted a tiny baby bump.
The couple already employs at least one assistant, a Fijian-born corporal described as a “Man Friday” who was hired by the couple last year and assists with everything from chauffeuring the royals to organizing Prince William’s wardrobe, according to the Express.
The new housekeeper would likely be expected to help the duke and duchess as they move into their newly renovated apartment at the 300-year old Kensington Palace property sometime this year.
