SAUL LOEB/AFP/Getty Images(WASHINGTON) — By the end of this week, President Obama says he will present the country with his own list of recommendations to curb gun violence, now that Vice President Joe Biden has submitted the results of his outreach on the issue.

“They’ve presented me now with a list of sensible, common-sense steps that can be taken to make sure that the kinds of violence we saw at Newtown doesn’t happen again,” Obama told a Monday news conference.

“I expect to have a fuller presentation later in the week to give people some specifics about what I think we need to do. My starting point is not to worry about the politics,” he said.  “My starting point is to focus on what makes sense, what works.”

The president and vice president have their regularly scheduled weekly lunch on Tuesday but aides will not speculate on whether their discussion will focus solely on gun violence.
