Voice of Charlie Brown Arrested
Valerie Macon/Getty Images(SAN DIEGO) — Peter Robbins, the man who provided the voice for the beloved Peanuts character Charlie Brown on several now-classic TV specials, was arrested Monday on five felony charges, according to the San Diego Union-Tribune.
Robbins, 56, was booked early Monday morning on four felony counts of making a threat to cause death or great bodily injury and one felony count of stalking, and was held on $550,000 bail. The newspaper cites the San Diego County Jail website as its source but as of Wednesday morning, a search of Robbins’ name via the website does not return any confirmation.
A jail spokesperson told the San Diego Union-Tribune that there were no additional details available on the arrest. Robbins’ agent, Danielle Matthews, said she would have a statement later Wednesday, when Robbins is reportedly due in court.
As a child, Robbins provided the voice of Charlie Brown in several 1960s animated Peanuts TV specials, including the classics A Charlie Brown Christmas and It’s the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown.
After his voice changed, he turned to TV and film acting. Robbins also maintains a Facebook page, where he identifies himself as Peter “Charlie Brown” Robbins.
