iStockphoto/Thinkstock(LONDON) — Reporters often have to disrupt their personal plans when there’s breaking news, but Chen Ying may have taken things to a whole other level.

The anchor for a Chinese television station was reportedly set to get married when a strong earthquake struck in rural Sichuan province, near where the nuptials were to take place. According to the South China Morning Post, Ying sprang into action.

Based on several media reports, it’s not clear whether Ying was already at the ceremony or on her way, but video from the earthquake’s aftermath shows her interviewing people in the streets. She was dressed in her full bridal finery — beaded white wedding gown, headpiece and veil and a corsage on her left wrist.

The Post said Ying’s actions have resonated on Chinese social media, with people expressing admiration for her apparent professionalism and dedication.

The quake — measured by China’s earthquake administration at magnitude 7.0 and by the U.S. Geological Survey at 6.6 — killed at least 180 people and injured an estimated 11,000 more, according to reports.
