Anthony Weiner Admits More Photos of Him Could Turn Up
Alex Wong/Getty Images(NEW YORK) — Continuing to test the waters for a possible political comeback, former Congressman Anthony Weiner sat for a series of interviews with various media outlets on Wednesday. But he may have wound up dong himself more harm than good.
The married New York Democrat resigned from Congress in 2011 after he revealed that he sent sexually inappropriate texts and photos to women after first denying that he had.
Now, Weiner, who was once hugely popular in his district, is considering a run for the Democratic nomination for New York mayor, a decision he’ll have to make in short order.
However, in one interview he made with Westchester-based RNN-TV, Wiener suggested another big shoe may drop as he admitted that other embarrassing photos of him could surface.
“If reporters want to go try to find more, I can’t say that they’re not going to be able to find another picture, or find another…person who may want to come out on their own,” Weiner said. “But I’m not going to contribute to that. The basics of the story are not gonna change.”
Meanwhile, asked by WABC-TV just how many women he allegedly contacted electronically before he was caught, Weiner wouldn’t respond when the number “six” was raised. He then cryptically said, “Six is…It’s not 20 and it’s not 100.”
He later said that social media couldn’t be blamed for his downfall, taking responsibility for what happened to him.
Yet, Weiner is back on Twitter again, two years after suspending his account, explaining, “Twitter can be snarky, it can be funny. But it can also be a real tool to help governance. And I’m not going to let that tool go unused.”
