Stocks Up After the Holiday Weekend
Hemera/Thinkstock(NEW YORK) — The markets made small gains on Tuesday after the holiday weekend.
The Dow Jones Industrial Average closed up 23.65 points at 14,833.96.
The Nasdaq Composite added 22.74 points to 3,612.61.
The S&P 500 gained 6.8 points, closing at 1,639.77.
Meanwhile, Microsoft has announced it is buying Nokia’s cell phone business and patents for $7.2 billion.
Kodak emerged from bankruptcy on Tuesday. But instead of manufacturing consumer cameras, the company has shifted its focus to commercial printing.
And Chobani is pulling containers of its popular greek yogurt off store shelves nationwide because, the company said, there have been quality concerns with some of its products. Chobani is offering replacement products for those who had purchased affected cups.
