Magnitude 6.5 Earthquake Hits Mexico-Guatemala Border
Zoonar/Thinkstock(PAJAPITA, Guatemala) — A 6.5 magnitude earthquake rocked a town on the border of Mexico and Guatemala on Friday, according to the U.S. Geological Survey.
The quake’s epicenter was located 4 miles from the town of Pajapita, Guatemala.
There’s the potential for injuries due to the size of the town, said Dale Grant with the U.S. Geological Survey, but there was no immediate word of injuries or damage.
“Again, a smaller community I doubt would have the high-rise buildings that generally cause most–many of the damage and casualties,” he said.
