(WASHINGTON) — Much of the federal government will shut down on Oct. 1, unless Congress makes a move to fund the portion of the budget requiring authorization.

But some GOP congressmen are blocking the way, wanting to use the budget issue as a way to turn off President Obama’s health care law.

On Friday, the House of Representatives is expected to vote to fund the government for three more months.  The temporary spending bill would deny funding for Obamacare.

House Speaker John Boehner (R-Ohio) expects his Republicans to pass the bill and send it to the Democratic-controlled Senate, where Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-Nev.) says its stands no chance.

Obama has also warned that he would veto the bill.
