Honda to Recall 344,000 Odyssey Minivans in US
Photo Courtesy Honda(TORRANCE, Calif.) — Honda will recall over 300,000 Odyssey minivans from the 2007-2008 model years in order to correct an error that could cause the vehicles to break suddenly, without the driver hitting the brake pedal.
According to a release from Honda, an error in the Vehicle Stability Assist software can cause issues with calibration. Pressure may then be released into the brake circuit, causing the vehicle to stop without the driver pressing on the brake pedal and without illumination of the brake lamps. The combination of these issues increase the risk of a crash, prompting the recall of 344,000 vehicles in the U.S.
Honda says it is unaware of any crashes or injuries related to the issue.
The updated yaw sensor necessary to fix the error will not be available until the spring of 2014. In the meantime, Honda released a set of instructions for drivers of 2007-2008 Odyssey drivers containing instructions on how to ensure proper system calibration.
