MTV Names "Gravity" Best Film of 2013

Photo Courtesy Warner Bros. Pictures(NEW YORK) — The Sandra Bullock/George Clooney space drama, Gravity, was MTV’s choice for Best Movie of 2013, the music network announced Wednesday.

Instead of a pool of voters or opening up the decision to the public, MTV’s editors selected the network’s Top 10 Best Movies of 2013.

Gravity was chosen for the top spot because filmmakers spent four years creating the film that centers on Bullock and Clooney as two astronauts stranded in space when their shuttle is destroyed.  MTV said Gravity also topped the list because “James Cameron called it the best space movie ever made.” 

The comedy This Is The End was MTV’s runner-up.  The Seth Rogen-directed film centers around six friends trapped in a house as an apocalypse signals the end of the world.
