Community Funding Awarded

Lt. Governor Eric Holcomb announced the Indiana Office of Tourism Development (IOTD) and Indiana Office of Community and Rural Affairs (OCRA) awarded four communities funding for quality of place initiatives through the Place Based Investment Fund (PBIF), including La Porte. The City of LaPorte will receive grant funds of $50,000 to fund parks, public venues and other quality of place projects. Younger Life Plaza 618 is a visible centrally located public plaza. Plaza 618 will be a beautiful site that will host events and serve as an outdoor space. This space will include table service for nearby restaurants, decorative pavement, a fountain, permanent outdoor furniture as well as other amenities. The plaza will be utilized for farmers markets, concerts, various festivals and downtown events. This project is a partnership between the LaPorte County Redevelopment Commission, IU Health, Urban Enterprise Association and the LaPorte County Convention and Visitors Bureau.
