Center Twp. man saved with Narcan by Porter Cty. Sheriff’s Office
At 1:30am on Tuesday, Officers with the Porter County Sheriff’s Office responded to a residence in Center Township for an unresponsive 24 year old male due to a suspected heroin overdose. Officer Brian Lambka responded to the residence to find the subject with a weak pulse, ineffective breathing and also located drug paraphernalia associated with heroin use, in the subject’s pocket. Officer Lambka administered a dose of the department issued Narcan and within minutes the subjects condition improved. Shortly after emergency medical personnel arrived the subject regained consciousness and was speaking with medical personnel. To date this year, the number of overdoses reported in Porter County is 23; the number of heroin deaths is 3: the number of saves with the use of Narcan by Police is 5 and by EMS is 6.
