Pick-up truck runs off roadway, ends up in farm ditch
On Wednesday morning, the Porter County Sheriff’s Office responded to the area of eastbound US Hwy 30 in the area of 500 E for a vehicle that ran off of the roadway to the south into a farm ditch. Witnesses stated the driver, later identified as 62 year old David Kenning of Porter, was traveling eastbound on US Hwy 30 and went off the roadway to the south for unknown reasons. His pick-up truck was partially submerged in the water up to the door handle, perpendicular in ditch. Kenning was removed from the vehicle by Washington Township Fire department and then transported to Porter Regional for complaint of pain from the air bag deployment. Initial investigation showed alcohol was a factor as an initial Portable Breath Test showed a BAC of .25%. Alcohol and Drugs results are pending.
