A convicted felon wanted for failing to return to custody-CAPTURED

A convicted felon wanted for failing to return to custody following a court ordered furlough was apprehended early Thursday morning. Investigators from the La Porte County Sheriff’s Office and the Michigan City Police have been pursuing leads since Jeffery Glancy failed to return to the La Porte County Jail earlier in the month. At approximately 1:15 AM this morning Sheriff’s Sergeant Andy Hynek, who was the lead investigator in the case, received information that Glancy was at a residence in the 100 block of Phillips Avenue in Michigan City. Police officers from the Michigan City Police Department midnight shift responded to the home and initially met with some resistance from the occupants of the residence however a short time later Glancy surrendered to Cpl. Jason Holaway.

Glancy was recently convicted of theft and burglary in La Porte Circuit Court and sentenced to the Indiana Department of Corrections. He also has criminal charges pending in Porter County, Indiana. He faces additional charges for level 6 felony escape for failing to return to custody after being granted leave from the jail.
