Update From The Michigan City Police Department
During the early morning hours on Friday, June 17th, 2016; the Michigan City Police Department’s Special Weapons and Tactics Unit (SWAT) executed a search warrant at 320 N Ashland Avenue with the assistance of the Street Crimes Unit (SCU), and Fugitive Apprehension Street Team (FAST).
SCU had recently received numerous tips from the public that an individual later identified as Bobby Darrell McCall (age 33) was illegally distributing narcotics in the Michigan City area. The investigation continued and SCU was able to conduct surveillance and determine that Mr. McCall was conducting his operation from the residence of 320 N Ashland Avenue. SCU detectives then obtained a search warrant after oral testimony was presented to the Honorable Judge Michael Bergerson through the assistance of Deputy Prosecutor Caitlin Padula.
Upon executing the search warrant, multiple adults and small children were found residing in the home, one of which included Mr. McCall. A methodical search of the residence ensued. A large amount of cocaine and United States Currency was seized by SCU detectives.
On Friday, June 17th, 2016; Detective Willie Henderson of the Street Crimes Unit gave oral testimony to the Honorable Judge Michael Bergerson with the direction of Deputy Prosecutor Rob Neary. Probable cause was then established for the charge of Dealing in Cocaine (Possession with the Intent) Level 2 Felony and a $50,000 bond was issued. Mr. McCall has since been transported to the La Porte County Jail and is scheduled to appear in La Porte Superior Court #1 on June 21st, at 9:00 am for his initial court appearance at the Michigan City Courthouse.
