Michigan City Man Arrested For Burglary

The La Porte County Sheriff’s Office is releasing the name of the suspect that was arrested early Saturday morning following a burglary attempt that was interrupted by a homeowner. Sheriff’s deputies captured 22-year-old Eric Rose of Michigan City after Rose was briefly held at gunpoint by the owner of a residence that he attempted to burglarize. Rose is also the suspect in a burglary at a residence in the same area at the same time. The burglaries occurred in the area of Small Road and Forrester Road which is in west central La Porte County. Rose was observed entering a residence by a homeowner who was working in an outbuilding on his property at the time. The homeowner, who armed himself with a rifle, confronted Rose and held him at bay while sheriff’s deputies responded. Rose fled from the homeowner however was captured nearby a short time later by a deputy. Rose is currently held in the La Porte County jail on a charge of residential entry, a level six felony. Detectives are continuing to investigate the case and additional criminal charges are expected.
