Alexander Uryga Named The 2016 James Madison Fellow
Michigan City High School alum Alexander Uryga has been named the 2016 James Madison Fellow representing the State of Indiana. The James Madison Memorial Fellowships support the graduate study of American History by aspiring and experienced secondary school teachers of American history, American government, and social studies. This prestigious fellowship is awarded by the James Madison Memorial Fellowship Foundation, an independent agency of the Executive Branch of the Federal government. Alex is a 2011 graduate of Michigan City High School; he was a distinguished graduate, president of the Student Council, and he served as a summer intern here in our administrative offices. He graduated from Valpoaraiso University in 2015 with highest honors, earning a BA in political science and history. At Valpo he served in a number of leadership roles, including President of the Student Body and University Council Vice Chair, and he spent a semester in Washington, DC as an intern for Senator Joe Donnelly.
