Man sentenced for drug trafficking crimes
United States Attorney for the Northern District of Indiana, David Capp, announced that 29 year old Roman Olvera of Elkhart, was sentenced for distribution of controlled substances and carrying a firearm during and in relation to a drug trafficking crime. Olvera was sentenced to 180 months’ imprisonment and 4 years of supervised release. According to documents filed in this case, in September, 2015, Olvera distributed heroin and marijuana to another person. Olvera admitted to carrying a firearm to protect himself from being robbed of drugs or proceeds during the transaction. When arrested on February 14, 2016, Olvera had 114 grams of meth in his possession. This case was prosecuted as a result of an investigation by the DEA.
