Local construction update
On the Indiana Toll Road, The Lake Station Exit Ramps are closed. The entrance ramps remain open. Construction is between mile markers 32 through 42. On the Indiana Toll Road in the La Porte area, Construction is between mile markers 32 through 42 and 73 through 83. On the Indiana Toll Road in the South Bend area, Construction is between mile markers 32 through 42 and 73 through 83. The Indiana Toll Road released information on local roadways that will have bridge work done. In La Porte, Fail Road will be closed through October 7th. In Portage, Dombey Road will be closed until September 2nd. In New Carlisle, Chicago Trail will be closed through November 18th. Finally. In Granger, Fir road will be closed until September 16th. A section of Pine Lake Avenue will be restricted to one lane for all northbound traffic, between the hours of 6:30 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. through Friday, August 12. The INDOT restriction is to allow for work on new driveways, curbing and utilities. Motorists are encouraged to travel at reduced speeds in this area and to be prepared for quick stops. INDOT is alerting drivers to the closure of State Road 2, between County Road 400 W and the entrance to the LaPorte County Small Animal Shelter next to the fairgrounds. This closure will be in place through August 15. The LaPorte County Fair Board is closing the road for the Pyrotechnic Guild International’s “Fire in The Sky” Weeklong Convention. During the closure, State Road 2 will remain open to local traffic from U.S. 421 to County Road 400 W. and from State Road 39 and the entrance to the LaPorte County Small Animal Shelter. Drivers traveling west on State Road 2 will be detoured south on State Road 39, west on U.S. 6, north on U.S. 421 and back to State Road 2. Drivers traveling east on State Road 2 will be detoured south on U.S. 421, east on U.S. 6, north on State Road 39 and back to State Road 2.
