Porter County Sheriff’s Office increases patrols to mark start of school year
Wednesday marked the first day of the 2016-2017 school year. The Porter County Sheriff’s Office is increasing their patrols in school zones and at bus stops in an effort to maintain the safety of children. The Porter County Sheriff’s Office is reminding everyone to always watch their speeds but specifically before and after school hours. Officers will also be watching for stop arm violations. The buses flashing red lights and stop arms are not optional. If you are found in violation, you will be stopped and cited. The Porter County Sheriff’s Office has also initiated a Sex Offender Blitz this week. Officers will be completing residency checks on over 30 offenders in Porter County, to confirm compliance of registered Sex Offenders.
