New report: Hoosier economy growing stronger
Indiana’s economy continues to grow stronger, according to the Bureau of Labor Statistics report released Friday by the Indiana Department of Workforce Development. Indiana businesses have added 149,700 new jobs since January 2013, and the state’s unemployment rate dropped 0.2% in July to 4.6% – below the national rate of 4.9%. Indiana’s labor force, which includes both Hoosiers that are getting jobs and those that are ready to start looking for jobs, increased by more than 3,700 Hoosiers in July and 75,029 Hoosiers so far in 2016. Indiana’s labor force participation rate remains at 65.4%, which is above the national rate of 62.8%.
