Dedication ceremony at Porter County I-94 west bound scales set for Saturday

On Saturday, August 27th at 10am, a dedication ceremony will be held at the Porter County I-94 west bound scales at the 29 mile marker. The purpose of the ceremony will be to dedicate the facility to the memory of Master Motor Carrier Inspector (MCI) Ralph R. Reed Jr. Ralph Reed was an Indiana State Police Motor Carrier Inspector from 1968 until his tragic and untimely death, on US 30 near Plymouth on August 3, 1995 when he was killed by a semi tractor-trailer hauling cattle. Inspector Reed was the first Indiana State Police motor carrier inspector to be killed in the line of duty. Members of the Indiana State Police Command Staff and Commercial Vehicle Enforcement Division Staff, as well as members from Ralph Reed’s family, are expected to attend the dedication ceremony.
