Valpo PD report numerous overnight vehicle thefts

Valparaiso Police have been responding to numerous reports of thefts from vehicles which have occurred overnight. As of Thursday morning, officers have responded to six reports, those thefts occurred in the areas of High St, Summit Place, Fernhill Dr., John Glenn and Sheffield Dr. In most incidents the vehicle was not locked when the thefts occurred. Typically minor items were taken from the un-locked vehicles. Police are strongly encouraging vehicle owners to lock their vehicles when left unattended. Additionally, removing valued items or hiding and not making them easily visible will assist with minimizing your losses. Police are requesting assistance regarding the thefts overnight. Anybody with information regarding the thefts is asked to call the police department at (219) 462-2135 or text a tip to TIP411 (847-411) enter “Valpo” as the first word in your message field prior to sending the tip. valpo
