La Porte County Sheriff’s Office responds to rollover crash

According to a press release by the La Porte County Sheriff’s Office; a single vehicle personal injury crash on SR 2 near CR 450 E. Patrol deputies received the call at 1:21 AM Friday reporting the crash and upon arrival found a Honda Accord upside down in the westbound lanes. The driver was found to have been partially ejected from the vehicle and was pinned between the vehicle and the roadway. Firefighters from Kankakee Township were able to extricate the driver who was flown from the scene by Medflight to Memorial Hospital in South Bend, Indiana. There were no other occupants of the vehicle and no other vehicles were involved. The driver of the vehicle was identified as 27-year-old Joseph M. Hyduk who resides in rural La Porte County. Investigation at the scene indicated that the Honda Accord was traveling east on SR 2 when it left the roadway traveling through the median and striking an embankment. The vehicle was airborne before landing on the ground and rolling several times before landing on its roof in the middle of the westbound lanes. Alcohol is suspected as a causing factor by patrol deputies who are awaiting test results.
