F.A.S.T. apprehends wanted suspect
The Fugitive Apprehension Street Team (F.A.S.T.) announced the apprehension of 34 year old Thomas Harrington, who was wanted through The La Porte County Sheriff’s Department for Stalking Level 6 Felony, Resisting Law Enforcement “A” Misdemeanor, and Failing to Appear in Circuit Court for Resisting Law Enforcement Level 6 Felony. Harrington who had been wanted since December 2015, was apprehended on Tuesday by members of the F.A.S.T. and Street Crimes Unit after he fled from a residence in the 1300 W. Block of 8th Street in Michigan City. Members of both teams had been conducting surveillance on the residence, and once Harrington was observed they attempted to take him into custody, as he fled on foot. Harrington was subdued with a taser, before being taken into custody. Also arrested as a result of this case was the sister to Harrington, identified as 31 year old Alesia Bowers. Bowers was charged with Assisting a Fugitive. The F.A.S.T. reminds citizens that per Indiana statute it is against the law to assist a wanted fugitive, and those who provide shelter, finances, or in any way assist a wanted fugitive are subject to being arrested.
