“In election season you will often hear crazy stuff,” the president said Tuesday as he campaigned solo for Hillary Clinton in Philadelphia. “This year we’ve been hearing a little more crazy than usual.”

Later Tuesday, Obama will raise money for the Democratic National Committee at a private fundraiser in Philadelphia before stopping at a fundraiser in New York City to raise money on behalf of House Democrats.

White House press secretary Josh Earnest previewed the president’s day of campaigning.

“I think you can look forward to the president making a strong, affirmative case about why he believes she would be an excellent president of the United States and why he is forcefully supporting her as a candidate,” Earnest said Monday. “The president’s going to be in a mode tomorrow where he’s enthusiastically advocating for her election.”

Clinton is off the campaign trail, recuperating at her Chappaqua, New York, home from pneumonia that has caused her to cancel at least three days of planned events so far.
