ABC News(ASTON, Pa.) — Donald Trump will formally unveil his childcare expenses plan with his daughter, Ivanka Trump, later Tuesday. The issue has become a signature issue for Ms. Trump, who spoke fervently about the topic during the Republican National Convention in Cleveland.

During a call this morning with reporters, Ms. Trump said that she had been involved with crafting the plan and was “excited to see it come to fruition.” Specifics of the plan will be announced during a rally at 7:30 p.m. in Aston, Pennsylvania, a suburb of Philadelphia.

The core components of Trump’s proposal include: allowing working parents to deduct childcare expenses from their income taxes; creating new Dependent Care Savings accounts; guaranteeing six weeks of paid maternity leave.

The plan also accounts for lower-income families with no tax liability; they would receive rebates through the existing Earned Income Tax Credit.

Under Trump’s plan, tax-deductible childcare will be capped at the average cost of care for the state of residence and will only be available to individuals earning less than $250,000 (or $500,000 for those parents who file their tax returns jointly).

It also allows stay-at-home parents to receive a tax deduction. A Trump campaign aide said that businesses will receive tax incentives to provide on-site childcare.

The Republican nominee is expected to outline how he would pay for these initiatives later in the week.
