Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson Goes Native on "GMA" to Debut "Moana" Trailer

ABC/Ida Mae Astute(MAUI, HAWAII) — Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson made an appearance on Good Morning America from Maui to promote the world premiere of his upcoming animated Disney film Moana

Wearing a tight white shirt, The Rock, who is on location filming Jumanji opposite Kevin Hart and Jack Black, first gave GMA a taste of his Polynesian roots by introducing two men who performed a death-defying fire-spinning routine.

Moments after walking off-screen, however, Johnson re-appeared, shirtless, greased up, and wearing a matching native outfit — a small sari-like loin covering, and grass-covered boots — to take part in a synchronized cultural dance.

Featuring songs co-written by Hamilton Tony winner Lin-Manuel Miranda, Moana features Disney’s first Polynesian princess, a strong-willed, titular navigator who undertakes a perilous journey and along the way meets a demi-god — incidentally named Maui — voiced by Johnson.

The film, from ABC’s parent company Disney, opens November 23, 2016.
