State Rep. Tom Dermody (R-LaPorte) announced the launch of a new scholarship program designed to incentivize top-performing high school students to pursue a career teaching in Indiana’s classrooms. Dermody supported a new law this year establishing the Next Generation Hoosier Educators Scholarship. Beginning Nov. 1, both incoming and current college students studying education can apply for the grant, which awards $7,500 per year toward college costs to those who commit to teaching in Indiana’s public or private schools for five years after graduating. Students can visit for more information and to submit an application before the deadline on Dec. 31.
