House Democratic Leader Scott Pelath holds media availability
House Democratic Leader Scott Pelath of Michigan City recently held a media availability where he was asked at length about health care changes as a result of the U.S. House of Representatives Republican proposal. Leader Pelath stated that a cigarette tax increase is going to have to go to health care, instead of being used as a “backfill” to infrastructure, if Congressional Republicans successfully pass their health care plan. Leader Pelath also said that HIP 2.0 is really part of the Affordable Care Act. The GOP health plan in the U.S. House is causing consternation among Indiana governmental leaders about how to preserve HIP 2.0’s coverage of many Hoosiers.
