Armed robbery under investigation

A local business was robbed for the second time in as many weeks. On Tuesday, April 18, 2017, at approximately 3:05am, La Porte Police responded to Citgo Convenience Station, 104 E. Lincolnway for an armed robbery. Preliminary investigation determined that a black male entered the business, armed with a handgun, demanding money. The clerk complied with request as the suspect made off with an undetermined amount of cash at the time of reporting. The suspect was wearing dark colored clothing and his face was covered by some type of mask or garment. It is unknown if they left the area on foot or in a vehicle. This is the third armed robbery under investigation by La Porte Police since March. On March 23, 2017, at about 11:10 p.m., the Marathon Convenience Station, 1033 E. Lincolnway, was robbed by two armed black males who displayed weapons and demanded money.Their faces were covered by a mask/ garment. The Citgo Station was robbed previously on April 10, 2017, at 2:25 a.m.; the same morning that a residential burglary occurred in the 1400 Blk.of Jefferson Av. Both cases occurred about an hour apart, and involved armed black males.
