La Porte County Sheriff’s Office responded to farm accident

According to a press release, the La Porte County Sheriff’s Office responded to a farm accident Wednesday afternoon. Emergency responders were dispatched to a farm on CR 400 S east of US 35 following a report of a 3-year-old boy that had been run over by a farm tractor. Multiple emergency personnel responded to the call including several La Porte County Emergency Medical Service personnel, Pleasant Township Firefighters and numerous La Porte County Sheriff’s Deputies. The call was received at 1:42 PM. Once on scene and the child was stabilized the ambulance left for La Porte Hospital. Sheriff’s deputies and La Porte City police officers closed off all major intersections to give the ambulance an open roadway to the hospital. Memorial Med Flight was contacted and arrived at La Porte Hospital as the La Porte County EMS ambulance arrived at the emergency room. The child was immediately airlifted to Comers Children’s Hospital in Chicago, Illinois. La Porte County Sheriff’s deputies, assisted by the Illinois State Police, transported family members to the hospital. This incident remains under investigation although no foul play is suspected.
