Investigation on Saturday’s homicide near Ravinia Park

On Saturday, September 23rd at 1:58 a.m., police received a call of shots fired in the 1500 block of Lebanon Street, near Ravina Park.  Police responded to an accident and discovered a victim suffering from apparent gunshot wounds who crashed near Fellows and Sample Street while trying to drive himself to the hospital.

26 year old Dijon Jones was pronounced deceased at the hospital.  An autopsy was conducted Monday afternoon. The forensic pathologist determined Mr. Jones’ cause of death to be gunshot wound, and his manner of death to be a homicide.  A second victim drove himself to a local hospital after sustaining a gunshot wound.  He has been treated for non-life threatening injuries and released.  The St. Joseph County Metro Homicide Unit (CMHU) was activated, per protocol, and this remains an active and on-going investigation.  At the time of the press release, no suspects have been arrested or taken into custody.
