Tracee Ellis Ross responds to reports of negotiations over "black-ish" salary gap
ABC/Bob D’Amico(LOS ANGELES) — Tracee Ellis Ross this weekend provided an update on her on-going pay negotiations over her work on black-ish.
The negotiations became a subject of public interest after The Hollywood Reporter cited unnamed sources as saying that the disparity between the actress’ pay and that of her co-star, Anthony Anderson, was a subject at a recent meeting of Times Up, the initiative combating sexual harassment and gender inequity in Hollywood.
In a statement on Twitter on Saturday, Ross acknowledged that contract negotiations are on-going saying that she, “wanted to be compensated in a way that matches my contribution to a show that I love for many reasons, including the opportunity it allows me to reshape what it is to be a fully realized black woman on TV.”
Ross said that she never made any threats in the context of her negotiations at that having, “had my renegotiation become a public conversation was awkward, but I’m grateful for the outpouring of support.”
She added, that she was “thankful” that conversations about pay equity are taking place, not just in Hollywood but in every industry.
