Man Suffers Gunshot Wound in South Bend, Police Asking for Public’s Help

On Wednesday at around 5:00 pm, officers with the South Bend Police Department were dispatched to Memorial Hospital in reference to a shooting victim. Officers were also dispatched to the 1900 block of Freemont in reference to shots fired. When they arrived at the hospital, officers found 23 year old Henry Turner, suffering from gunshot wound. Turner was rush ed to surgery by hospital personnel. Because of the severity of his injuries, the St. Joseph County Metro Homicide Unit (CMHU) was activated, per protocol. Doctors and medical providers were able to stabilize Mr. Turner, who is now expected to survive. Detectives h ave interviewed a number of witnesses. The investigation determined that the shooting of Mr. Turner occurred in the 1900 block of Freemont. At this time, it remains an ongoing investigation and no arrests have been made.
