In Porter County, the dates for this year’s 4th Annual Northwest Regional Sheriff’s Camp camp are August 7th-9th at the Indiana Dunes State Park from 8:00am to 4:00pm. The cost of the camp is $40.00 per camper. This year’s camp will be for ‘first timers’ as they are looking to accept those that have not attended the camp in the previous 3 years. Returning campers will be accepted based on availability. Unless food allergies are an issue; lunch, snacks and drinks will be provided each day to the campers. This is a great opportunity during the summer, and just before the kids head back to school, to have a positive learning experience with our First Responders, see the different aspects of Law Enforcement and other Emergency Services, and plenty of hands on opportunities and team building. The camp is put on by the Porter County, Jasper County, La Porte County and Lake County Sheriff’s Offices as well as Indiana Conservation and South Haven Fire and Rescue. The camp is open to children of those 4 counties between the ages of 9 and 14. Space is limited and the camp is expected to fill up fast, so be sure to mail your completed application to the Porter County Sheriff’s Office or drop it off in person during business hours. The deadline is July 6th, 2018, by 4:00pm, unless vacancies are filled prior to that date. Checks for the $40.00 application fee can be made out to the Porter County Sheriff’s Office, with ‘Sheriff’s Camp’ in the memo section. Check out www.portercountysheriff.com for copies of the flyer and application. Any questions regarding the camp or you wish to donate, can be forwarded to Sgt. Jamie Erow at 219-477-3102 or via email at pio@porterco-ps.org.
