Porter County Sheriff’s Officers responded to the area of Burlington Beach Road and Charles Street in Center Township this afternoon around 12:15pm in regards to a suspicious incident. The mother of a 13 year old female reported her daughter was dropped off at her bus stop after her last day of school, when she was approached by a male subject driving a white pickup truck, that pulled up alongside her and asked her “Do you want to go somewhere with me?” The juvenile told him no, became fearful and ran home. She immediately told her mother, who called police as she was outside her residence checking the area. Valparaiso Police and Porter County Officers were on scene within 4 minutes checking the area, but were unsuccessful in locating the truck or the suspect. The suspect (the sole occupant and who spoke to the juvenile through the passenger side window) is described as a male white, possibly in his 30’s, short stubby blond/brown hair, clean shaven, no visible tattoos and was wearing a reflective vest. The vehicle he was driving was described as a white truck, dark blue/black interior, empty bed with no work box, and small scratches along the passenger side door. There are no further incidents reported in this area, however as summer approaches the Porter County Sheriff’s Office reminds everyone to be mindful of their surroundings and to report any suspicious incidents similar to this, immediately.
