This October, The Michigan City Fire Department is proud to participate in National Breast Cancer Awareness Month. Breast cancer is the most common kind of cancer in women after skin cancer. About 1 in 8 women born today in the United States will get breast cancer at some point. National Breast Cancer Awareness Month is a chance to raise awareness about the importance of detecting breast cancer early and help spread the word and encourage annual mammograms. Michigan City Firefighters will be wearing Breast Cancer Awareness shirts on duty during the Month of October. The shirts are also available to the public and will be available to purchase starting August 24th. If interested in purchasing a shirt they will be available at the Fire Administration Office located at 2510 E Michigan Blvd. Hours available to pick up are Monday through Friday between 8:00 AM and 4:00 PM. Checks can be out to the Michigan City Fire Department. All profits from the sale of shirts will be donated to Breast Cancer Awareness.
