Indiana State Police Investigating Threat to Michigan City Mayor
The Indiana State Police are investigating by the request of the Michigan City Police Department an alleged threat to the Michigan City Mayor Ron Meer
On Friday November 2, 2018, at approximately 2:12 p.m., the Michigan City Police Department was dispatched to City Hall, located at 100 E. Michigan Boulevard, reference an emergency 911 call that was received from the mayor’s office
Officers (Michigan City, Trail Creek and Long Beach Police) upon arrival were advised by Mayor Meer that Rodney McCormick, 51 of Michigan City, had made verbal threats to him while he was present in the hallway of city hall. McCormick was arrested and charged with a Level 6 Felony for Intimidation.
Michigan City Police Chief Mark Swistek contacted the Indiana State Police and requested that we continue the investigation to the arrest of Rodney McCormick
McCormick was taken to the LaPorte County Jail in LaPorte where he is currently being held on no bond pending a court appearance on Monday, November 5th
