This past Wednesday night, Officer Petrie was dispatched to the Save-A-Lot gas station, located at 1811 Franklin Street, in reference to a Robbery that had just taken place in the parking lot. Upon his arrival he located the 49-year-old female victim. She reported she had exited the gas station and had just returned to her vehicle when a man approached her and grabbed her purse. A struggle over the purse ensued which caused injury to her. The man ultimately obtained the purse and fled on foot to his vehicle which was parked a few blocks away. The victim was able to provide a good description of the suspect and the vehicle he fled in. Officer Michael Petrie provided this information to the other patrol units and within several minutes Officer Justin Frever spotted the suspect vehicle in the 5700 block of Franklin Street. He initiated a traffic stop and was assisted by Officer Michael McClemore and Sgt.Jason Holaway. Evidence of the Robbery was recovered during the stop and the suspect was positively identified by the victim as the person responsible for this crime. The suspect was determined to be 27-year-old Quayshuan Kelly. Mr. Kelly was subsequently arrested for Robbery Causing Bodily Injury as a Level 3 Felony.
