Mayor Klein Gets Green in Crown Point

Tuesday, April 24, 2007 - Crown Point Mayor Dan Klein was proud to welcome Plasmatronics LLC and their President and CEO Linda Decker to Crown Point on Tuesday. Plasmatronics is planning on opening a manufacturing and research center at the Millennium Park that will bring in over 220 high paying jobs and manufacture its new Plasma Drive Ignition TM systems that boosts fuel economy, horsepower and reduces emissions by up to 51 percent.

Indiana Governor Mitch Daniels gave credit to the Mayor for helping bring the facility to Crown Point by saying "Ultimately, great companies don't pick a state, they may start there, but then they need to pick a community. They have to pick a place with all the features, the great workers, the roads the location, the business friendly atmosphere. It's an enormous feather in your cap, Mayor Klein, that with all the choices they had, they came right here."

Mayor Klein announced that the jobs that will be created pay, on the average, 23 dollars an hour and the company that will be providing these jobs is one of integrity and character. The Mayor credited the city council members, the redevelopment commission and the "level playing field" in Crown Point to help "raise the bar" and increase expectations for economic development for the citizens of Crown Point and neighboring cities.

The focus of the announcement was not purely economical; it was also environmental as South Shore Clean Cities President Carl Lisek thanked Governor Daniels for promoting a healthy environment throughout Indiana. "When this administration took over, we had zero E-85 stations in the state of Indiana. As of today, we have 82 E-85 stations in the state of Indiana, and I want to thank Governor Daniels for that."

The introduction of New Jersey based Plasmatronics LLC to Northwest Indiana continues the trend of environmentally friendly businesses and policies that have come to the area. Plasmatronics, LLC is a company focused on taking engine ignition technology to the next phase of fuel efficiency with a significant by-product: the virtual elimination of noxious emissions. The company has powerfully exploited simple principles of plasma science to improve the combustion process in engines.
