Garbage truck strikes guardrails, causes traffic delays
A garbage truck caused a back-up Thursday morning after getting tangled in the guardrails on I-65. Just after 5:30 a.m., Trooper William Carlson was dispatched to a single vehicle crash on I-65 at the 234 mile marker (this is just south of the Kankakee River). This area is also a construction zone with median work being done. A semi was transporting garbage from Chicago to a landfill in Monticello, Indiana. The driver, from University Park, Illinois was in the right lane when for unknown reasons ran off the roadway striking the outside guardrail, and then struck the guardrail a second time causing the semi’s right tractor tires to become lodged under the guardrail. The driver was not injured and there was no load loss at the scene.
