MCPD OPO traffic enforcement results
The Michigan City Police Department has completed their participation in the OPO traffic enforcement grant for the month of June 2017. There was 8 extra patrols working 22hrs of overtime, paid from a Grant issued from the Indiana Governors Council and Officers stopped 65 vehicles for traffic violations. There was one arrest with a pursuit and charges of OWI L-6 Felony, Resisting Law Enforcement L-6 Felony and Driving While Suspended. Prior Officers wrote 20 Citations, 11 Seat Belt violation, 1 Suspended Driver’s infraction, 2 No Driver’s License in possession, 1 Left of Center, 1 Failure to Register a Moped citation, and 4 Speeding violations. Officers also wrote 47 warning tickets; 1 No License in possession, 1 Expired License plates, 6 Automatic Signal or Stop Sign violations, 1 Equipment Violations, 1 Expired or improper License plates and 37 for Speeding violations. Officers from the Michigan City Police Department will be adding extra patrols in July.
