Porter County Sheriff’s Officers called out to the Porter County Fairgrounds

Porter County Sheriff’s Officers and Detectives were called out to the Porter County Fairgrounds early Friday morning, around 2:00am, for a sexual assault that had occurred between a carnival employee and a juvenile associated with the carnival, whom are not Porter County residents. The suspect, 24 year old James Todd of Florida, was taken into custody after his release from Porter Regional Hospital on initial charges of Level 1 Felony Child Molesting. The victim is, a 13 year old female, who travels with the carnival throughout the country. Patrol Officers were called out to the Fairgrounds to speak with the victim and her mother about the sexual assault. As an officer was responding for a report, there was an additional call of a physical disturbance at the fairgrounds. Some of the carnival workers had heard of the sexual assault and confronted the suspect, James Todd. Todd was transported to Porter Regional Hospital where he was treated and released for minor injuries. He was later transported to Porter County Jail on the initial charges listed above. Todd has been uncooperative with Jail staff and they have not been able to process him for booking.
