Last week’s shootings in Michigan City being investigated
According to a press release from the Michigan City Police, the department is investigating two separate shootings that occurred on the East side of Michigan City in the last week. The first incident occurred August 12th at 12:16AM. In this incident there were people standing in the area of 237 and 238 N Calumet when a subject approached and started shooting. One thirty six year old male was struck and feel to the ground. The victim was found outside in the easement area by the street. The victim was taken to the hospital and released the next day. The second incident occurred August 15th at 10:32PM. In this incident people were again near 237 and 238 N. Calumet. When a subject approached and gun fire started. A 32 year old male was struck and was found in the yard of 238 N Calumet. He was transported to the hospital and is receiving treatment. Also during the gun fire, a 21 year old female who was at 237 N Calumet was struck in the leg and received a minor wound. She was treated at the scene was not taken to the hospital. Wednesday, a search warrant was executed on 238 N Calumet and a firearm and ammunition were recovered from inside the home. The police department is asking for the public’s assistance in these two shootings with any information that can be provided. Both cases have been assigned to Cpl.
