A semi driver lost one of his trailers this morning and didn’t realize it for over seven miles. Just after 4:30 am Tuesday, morning, a Freight-liner, driven by Jeffrey R. Olgetree from Louisiana, was east bound on I-80/94 near the 8.5 mile marker (this is ½ mile west of Grant Street) pulling double trailers when an unknown tractor and trailer that was in the middle right lane came over into the right lane where Ogletree was traveling and sideswiped the driver’s side mirror. Ogletree veered to the right, went onto the outer shoulder, then over-corrected back into the right lane. This caused the rear second trailer to fishtail, become detached from the first trailer, then roll onto its left side coming to rest in the middle left and middle right lanes of I-80 east bound. Ogletree was unaware that the trailer had been lost and continued east bound until he pulled over before entering the Indiana Toll Road. The unknown tractor and trailer that caused the crash was never located. The middle lanes were closed for approximately two hours to upright and tow the trailer.
