On Friday night, the South Bend Police Department (SBPD) received a report of gunshots fired in the area of Gladstone and Silver Lane. Officers were dispatched to the area and found one male victim suffering from apparent gunshot wounds. The victim was transported to an area hospital and was initially listed in critical condition. The victim passed away and has been identified as 17 year old Daekwon L. Tobar and his family has been notified. Several witnesses have been interviewed at the County Metro Homicide Unit. No arrests have been made and an autopsy is expected to be scheduled for Tuesday, February 19th, in Fort Wayne. This is an active and on-going investigation. The St. Joseph County Metro Homicide Unit is continuing the homicide investigation regarding the shooting death of Daekwon Tobar, occurring February 17th at Gladstone St. and Silver Lane in South Bend. The autopsy has been scheduled for tomorrow morning at 9 A.M. in Fort Wayne. There is no suspect information to release at this time, and no arrests have been made. As of today’s date, there have been five homicides in St. Joseph County with three of the victims being 17 years of age. Four out of the five cases have been solved. The investigation into the death of Daekwon Tobar is active and ongoing.
