Michigan City Human Rights Commission will kick off Disability Awareness Month by saying “thank you” to Michigan City Area Schools (MCAS) bus drivers and monitors and Student Support Services staff on Wednesday, March 7. Michigan City Mayor Ron Meer will make his way around town to recognize transportation and special education staff excellence. His first stop will be take place at 8:45 a.m. at the Bus Barn located at 1100 South Woodland Avenue where coffee and donuts will be served. Later on in the day, Mayor Meer will address staff from the MCAS Student Support Services Department during a cake reception being held at the Michigan City Areas Schools Administration Building located at 408 South Carroll Street. Michigan City High School and Middle Schools (Barker & Krueger) Educators, Speech, Occupational and Physical Therapists, Para Professionals and Principals will take place from 2:30 p.m. to 3:20 p.m. All MCAS Elementary Schools will be recognized from 3:30 p.m. to 4:20 p.m. For more information, visit www.emichigancity.com/cityhall/departments/humanrights.
