The La Porte County Drug Task Force announced the arrest of two individuals on narcotics and weapons charges. Thirty-two year old Damien L. Smith of Michigan City was arrested at The Tall Timbers Apartment Complex for two counts of Dealing Cocaine. On Monday June 18th, members of The LCDTF, and The Fugitive Apprehension Street Team (FAST) arrested Smith on these charges, along with an outstanding warrant for Revocation of a Suspended Sentence on an unrelated narcotics charge, as well as 3 Body Attachments totaling nearly $50,000. Smith is being held at The La Porte County Jail without bond. While members of The LCDTF, and F.A.S.T. were in the process of arresting Smith, they observed 21 year old Deonte L. Miller of Michigan City, outside another apartment at the same apartment complex. Miller was known to have outstanding warrants for Revocation of a Suspended Sentence, on an original charge for firearms possession, as well as a warrant for Escape. Miller was taken into custody, and found to be in possession of a handgun. The lead investigator in this case, determined that firearm was reported stolen through the Chikaming Township, Michigan Police Department. Along with the outstanding warrants, Miller was also charged with Carrying a Firearm without a Permit, and held in The La Porte County Jail without bond. All arrested parties are innocent until proven guilty in a court of law
